Thank you for your inquiry regarding State Delegate Scholarships. Applications for the 2024-2025 school year will be accepted January 1, 2024 through March 15, 2024.  Applications received after the deadline will be placed on the wait list.

To be eligible, you and your parents (if you are a dependent student) must be Maryland residents and currently reside in District 31.  To verify that you reside in 31, please visit http://www.mdelect.net.  If you do not reside in 31, I encourage you to apply with your current legislative representatives. Please note, awards will not be given out of district.

Also, you must enroll at a two-year or four-year Maryland college or university as a full time (12+ credits per semester) or part-time (6-11 credits per semester), be a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student, or attend certain private career schools. If you are awarded a scholarship based on full-time attendance, the amount may decrease if you decrease your credits to part-time.

If you applied for and received a scholarship last year, you must re-apply each year.  However, if you are re-applying, it is not mandatory to supply our office with transcripts or letters of recommendation.  If you would like to submit a new essay, please feel free to do so.  Renewal applications can be submitted beginning January 1, 2024.  The application must be received no later than March 15th, 2024.  Applications received after March 15th will be placed on the wait list due to the large amount of applications.

A Scholarship Committee will review and consider all applicants.  We will notify the recipients by May 31, 2024.  The Maryland Higher Education Commission manages the scholarship program and the funds are limited, so please return your application as quickly as possible.  Please read the guidelines issued by the MHEC pertaining to scholarships and be sure to register with MDCAPS: http://www.mhec.state.md.us.

If we can be of further assistance to you or your family, please do not hesitate to contact our office.  I wish you success in your chosen field of study and all future endeavors.
